The first watch to have landed on the moon all those years ago celebrated a very special anniversary in 2019 and as a result of the 50th anniversary of the moon landing the popularity of this watch has rocketed. The watch was worn during the first American spacewalk as part of NASAs Gemini 4 mission and was the first watch worn by an astronaut walking on the Moon during the Apollo 11 mission so it has some serious history and credentials. At the heart of this chronograph is OMEGA’s mechanical caliber 1861, the famous manual-winding movement that was worn on the Moon. Its functionality and aesthetics are equally as impressive. The Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch sports a well recognised racing chronograph, but the watch works surprisingly well for less hectic pursuits and will look incredible in many different social settings. The 42mm case size may sound big, but since the casing is flat, it sits quite slimmed on the wrist which gives huge refinement while still retaining the sporty feel.
