A modern classic in its most wearable form: the Rolex Lady-Datejust 28mm, reference 279173, in Yellow Rolesor — Oystersteel paired with 18ct yellow gold — with a silver sunburst dial set with ten brilliant-cut diamonds, a fluted 18ct gold bezel and the iconic five-link Jubilee bracelet. Purchased new in September 2024 and supplied as a full set with box and Rolex warranty card, it carries the balance of Rolex's five-year international guarantee.
The Lady-Datejust has been the benchmark ladies' dress watch since the 1950s, and the 279173 is the current-generation expression of that design. The silver sunray dial catches the light beautifully, with diamond hour markers set in 18ct gold, gold baton hands and the date at 3 o'clock magnified by Rolex's signature Cyclops lens. The fluted bezel in 18ct yellow gold, a Rolex hallmark, frames it all with just the right amount of warmth.
On the wrist, the 28mm Oyster case sits elegantly without ever feeling small, and the Jubilee bracelet, with its polished yellow gold centre links and brushed steel outer links, drapes comfortably and fastens with Rolex's concealed Crownclasp for a seamless, jewellery-like finish.
Inside is the Rolex calibre 2236, a self-winding movement fitted with Rolex's patented silicon Syloxi hairspring, which resists magnetic fields and temperature variation for exceptional precision. It carries Rolex's Superlative Chronometer certification, is accurate to −2/+2 seconds a day once cased, and offers a power reserve of approximately 55 hours. The Oyster case is water resistant to 100 metres.
Supplied with its Rolex presentation box and the green Rolex international warranty card, dated 26 September 2024. The manufacturer's five-year guarantee therefore remains valid until September 2029, a real reassurance on a watch of this calibre.
