Care for my Rolex

Having invested so much in your Rolex you'll likely be motivated to care and maintain it to the highest standards to keep it in excellent working order and keep it looking its best. We're happy to say that the vast majority of care for your Rolex can be undertaken by you with minimal effort and negligible cost. We do not intend this guide to cover advice on rectifying an issue or defect with your Rolex it is simply about the ongoing care for your watch.

We recommend the following on a daily basis:

  • Always check in the morning that your crown hasn't become unscrewed overnight. If it has simply screw it closed.
  • Remove marks left from your daily activities- e.g. rinsing shampoo, body moistuiriser or oils off.
  • Wear your Watch - We recommend wearing your watch daily. This advice is based on two points:
    1. Why have a beauitful watch and not wear it at least once a month?Let that Rolex know it is loved- wear it!
    2. If your Rolex isn't being used as an every day watch, it is very important to maintain it by gently moving it once every 48 hours or winding it at least once a week. There are watch winding boxes that can be purchased to help keep your watches moving and they are a great investment if you are a collector or intend to keep your watches for special occasions.

We recommend the following on an annual basis:

  • Assess the performance: Spend a little time checking to see how your watch is performing-measure the accuracy of your watch against the accuracy that Rolex outlined for the model in question. Is the accuracy within the agreed limits? If it isn't it might be a good idea to consider Servicing your rolex
  • Check your power reserve- Each Rolex automatic watch comes with an internal time frame where by it can keep your watch powered without harnesssing the movement of your wrist. Refer to your paperwork to see what your should expect your power reserve to be and test to see where it is against it.

Dealing with defects

  • If your watches performance starts to deteriorate send it for servicing immediately.
  • If you knock your watch and crack the crystal consider the waterproofing compromsied and talk to service specialist about replacing the crystal.

THINGS WE DO NOT RECOMMEND WEARING YOUR ROLEX FOR:

  • Prolonged salt water exposure - Salt water can be corrosive and damaging-we recommend rinsing your watch in fresh water after your watch has been in salt water
  • High impact sports - if you wear your rolex during continous impact or severe impact sports there is a real danger of damaging the movemement of your watch. We recommend leaving your watch in a secure location when you are going to play:
    • Tennis
    • Squash
    • Golf
I have left many sports off this list, sports that wearing watches in isn't permitted in- e.g. boxing, Rugby, Wrestling, etc - Wearing your watch during these would be as disasterous for your opponents as your watch.
